ABOUT THIS TOOL

More than a file-extension check

A .pdf extension alone does not prove that a file actually contains a PDF. DevPayload inspects beginning and ending file slices, checks the %PDF signature and %%EOF marker, and can identify several common alternative file signatures without uploading the selected files.

COMMON USES

Useful for everyday developer work

  • Check batches of files received from integrations.
  • Detect files renamed with a .pdf extension.
  • Review header, content detection and EOF evidence before escalation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are selected PDF files uploaded?

No. The checker reads file slices in your browser and does not upload the files during normal inspection.

Does a valid file signature prove the PDF is safe?

No. Signature inspection checks file structure indicators, not malware, document trust, certificate validity or complete PDF conformance.

Do I need an account?

No. Public deterministic tools work without signing in.
